New Mexico vegetable yield and price, 2024
What New Mexico growers actually harvested and were paid per crop in 2024, from USDA's crop-by-crop vegetable tables. These are state averages, not a forecast.
| Crop | Acres | Lb per acre | Price per lb | Sales per acre |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chile Peppers | 8,000 | 13,000 | $0.502 | $6,526 |
| Onion | 5,700 | 73,000 | $0.435 | $31,755 |
New Mexico has no university cost budget yet, so there's nothing to compare these figures with. You can still type any figure from this page into the profit calculator.
Source: USDA NASS Vegetables 2024 Summary, state-by-crop tables (area harvested, yield per acre, price per cwt), 2024. Yield is USDA's hundredweight figure × 100; price is its price per hundredweight ÷ 100; sales per acre is yield × price.
USDA combines fresh-market and processing sales, so for crops mostly sold to processors the price runs low. USDA surveys only the larger vegetable states and crops; a missing crop means USDA didn't report it, not that nobody grows it.
Prices are what growers received on average. Direct-market and specialty sales often bring more; your own sales records are always better.
