Effective June 13, 2026 · Last updated June 13, 2026
BAU Farm Intelligence ("BAU", "we", "us") provides crop planning, soil intelligence, planting calendars, pest watch, and a buyer marketplace to specialty crop farmers ("Service"). This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the rights you have. It also covers the disclosures required by the Apple App Store and Google Play.
1. Information we collect
You give us
- Account data: name, email, password hash, farm name, role.
- Farm data: field locations, USDA zone, crop history, plantings, tasks, notes.
- Uploaded content: scouting photos, spray logs, documents you attach to tasks.
- Payment and billing details (processed by our payment processor — we never store full card numbers).
- Communications you send to support.
Collected automatically
- Device info: model, OS version, app version, language, time zone.
- Approximate location (derived from IP) and, with your permission, precise location to map fields and pull localized weather.
- Diagnostics: crash logs, performance metrics, error traces.
- Usage events: features opened, tasks completed (used in aggregate to improve the product).
- Cookies and similar technologies for authentication and session management.
From third parties
- Weather and soil data providers, keyed to your field location.
- Authentication providers (e.g., Google Sign-In) if you choose to use them.
2. How we use your information
- Provide and operate the Service (planting calendar, reminders, recommendations, marketplace matching).
- Generate AI-assisted crop, pest, and soil recommendations tied to your account.
- Send transactional notifications, including planting and task reminders.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Debug, secure, and improve the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your farm data to train third-party AI models.
3. Sharing
We share information only as needed:
- Service providers acting on our instructions: cloud hosting, database, file storage, email delivery, payment processing, error monitoring, analytics, AI inference.
- Marketplace counterparties: when you opt in to list crops for sale or respond to a buyer request, the buyer sees the information you choose to publish.
- Legal: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights and safety.
- Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice to you.
3A. Sale of personal information & targeted advertising
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) and similar US state laws (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana). You do not need to submit a "Do Not Sell or Share" request — that setting is the default for every user.
3B. Farm data ownership
You own your farm data. We act as a custodian on your behalf and do not transfer identifiable farm data to input suppliers, insurers, landowners, lenders, or government agencies without your direction or valid legal process. We may use aggregated and de-identified data to improve the Service, publish regional benchmarks, and develop new features. We work toward alignment with the Ag Data Transparent principles (ownership, collection, notice, use, third-party access, choice, portability, termination, unlawful acts). See Section 6 of our Terms of Service for full details.
4. Data retention
We keep account and farm data for as long as your account is active. After deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records) or kept in backups that expire on a 90-day rolling cycle.
5. Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data from inside the app or by emailing privacy@baufarmintelligence.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA/CPRA — including the right to object to processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
6. Children
The Service is intended for users 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is limited to authorized personnel and logged. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication when available.
8. International transfers
We process data in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, you consent to the transfer of your data to the US under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).
