Initial recruitment: North Carolina conventional tomato growers, with 2011 baseline records and a 2027 comparison season. Field, greenhouse and high-tunnel production are recorded separately for screening. Other covered Zone 6–9 farmers can submit their scope; submission does not guarantee a matched group.
The 16-year historical gap limits comparability. Averages require at least five consenting farms with matching state, crop and season years; production details are not automatically matched. Results cannot prove BAU caused an improvement.
