- What exactly does Record-Verified mean?
- Two specific things, and nothing more. First, that the operator passed an exam covering the BAU platform end to end: rotation planning, soil and nutrient guidance, chemical and fertilizer application records for GAP/EPA compliance, labor planning, and contract-first planning for wholesale buyers. Second, that the farm keeps those planting, input, and application records on BAU. It is a recordkeeping and platform-competency credential. It is not GAP, not GHP, not USDA Organic, and not a food-safety audit — no one from BAU inspects your fields, packhouse, or water. Buyers should still ask for those audits separately.
- How long does it take and what does it cost?
- Six read-and-check modules run about 20 minutes total, followed by a 20-question randomized exam. You need 80% to pass, and you can retake the exam after a 60-minute cooldown. Record verification is included with any active BAU farm account at no extra charge.
- How do buyers verify my credential?
- Every passing grower gets a unique credential ID, a QR code, and a public verification URL. A buyer, lender, or food hub scans the code and sees the credential status, the issue date, and the farm it was issued to — no login required.
- Does the credential expire?
- Credentials are reviewed annually. When platform modules change materially, record-verified growers receive the updated module and a short delta exam rather than repeating the full program.
- Do I need the credential to use BAU?
- No. Record verification is optional. Growers pursue it when they want a verifiable signal for buyers and lenders, or when a co-op or food hub asks its supplier base to standardize on documented recordkeeping practices.
