THE PITCH IN PLAIN ENGLISH
BAU Farm Intelligence
Software that helps specialty-crop farmers plan smarter, forecast better, and run more profitable operations.
What we do
Most produce farmers still run their business on paper, spreadsheets, and disconnected apps. BAU is one place to plan crop rotations, track nutrients and inputs, forecast revenue, and stay on top of compliance — built specifically for fruit and vegetable growers, not commodity row crops.
Who it's for
Small-to-mid-size specialty crop farms (vegetables, berries, herbs) in the U.S., starting in the Southeast. These are operators producing real food for real buyers — wholesalers, grocers, restaurants, schools — who need better numbers to grow and to get financing.
Why now
Buyers (grocery, food service, institutions) demand more traceability and reliability. Lenders want better records. Labor and input costs are up. Farmers who can prove their numbers win more business and better terms — and most can't, today.
The product, in one paragraph
A web app with a proprietary rule engine for rotations, nutrients, and pest watch; a financial planner with scenario toggles; ROI and labor tools for equipment and H-2A decisions; and document workflows (case studies, NDAs, investor packets) that small teams normally can't afford to build.
INVESTMENT SNAPSHOT
Pre-seed round — open
SAFE. Use of funds: pilot expansion (NC/SC/GA), agronomic rule-engine build-out, two senior hires.
Traction signals
| Status | Certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (SBA VOSB) | |
| Pilots | Initial pilot program forming in NC vegetable operations | |
| IP | Proprietary rotation + nutrient rule engine in production | |
| Team | Founder-led; senior marketing leader in seat |
How we make money
Software subscription per farm, tiered by acreage and features. Expansion revenue from advisory add-ons (financial planning, loan packet prep, H-2A readiness) and partner channels (equipment dealers, lenders, co-ops).
Why we win
Built by an operator who actually farmed and an Air Force veteran with 15 years in financial services. Specialty-crop logic is deeply specific — generic farm software doesn't fit. We're vertical, opinionated, and grower-first.
Adjacent player: Barn2Door
Barn2Door (Seattle/Nashville, ~33K social following) sells farms a storefront + order/delivery/CSA tools so they can move product across web, email, and social. They own the sales layer. BAU owns the intelligence layer — rotations, nutrients, ROI, labor, buyer-ready numbers. Their traction validates farmer willingness to pay for software; our wedge is the planning and financial data their storefront doesn't produce.
The ask
Pre-seed SAFE. Investors get a mutual NDA, a private data room with the deck, 3-year financial model, pilot pipeline, founder bios, cap table, entity docs, and a technical architecture overview. Two-minute request form on the Investors page.
One-sentence summary
BAU is the operating system for the specialty-crop farms that feed America — and the software layer that finally makes their numbers bankable.
